first_imgTravellers are advised to triple check their flight details before travelling, listen out for announcements and don’t get too boozy before boarding to avoid being the one in five travellers that miss their flight.A recent survey of international travellers conducted by flight comparison site Skyscanner revealed the top excuse for missing a flight was being caught in a traffic jam.Not hearing the flight announcement and lack of time management were the next most common excuses while blaming the airline of a previous flight and missing the connection was also used.Travellers admitted to some other bizarre reasons for missing their flight such as oversleeping, spending too long in the shops and bars at the airport, turning up to the wrong place or even turning up on a different day. Men are the most likely candidates to miss their flight but get creative in arranging alternatives, with almost half admitting to turning on the charm, and one in four claiming success.
