New Container Pool to Improve Euro Links

first_imgzoom Zeebrugge-headquartered European Containers (ECS) and Finnish cargo carrier Containerships have agreed to enter into cooperation starting February 2015.The cooperation will focus on the combination of the partners’ transportation networks for a geographically enlarged coverage; and land transport synergies generated by combining the partners’ import and export flows in continental Europe, the UK and Ireland, which will enable significant reduction in CO2 emissions.Synergies at sales and customer service level will be achieved through common representation, starting with ECS being appointed as agent of Containerships in Italy as from February 14.The companies believe that the common container pool will ensure a better container availability and an improved competitiveness resulting from reduced empty positioning costs.“Our organisations have a lot in common, starting with a strong customer-centred focus. We serve different transport corridors but both have a strong presence in Western Europe. Together we aim for a great deal of synergy, improving the European container transport network,” said Frédéric Leca, Chief Operating Officer of Containerships.last_img
